Southern Oregon Occupational Safety & Health Conference
Timber Products serves as a Platinum sponsor of the Southern Oregon Occupational Safety & Health Conference, which took place this year towards the end of October in Ashland, Oregon. This conference provides safety training for companies in Southwest Oregon and Northern California and presents awards for companies as well as individual employees who display exceptional commitments to safety. Timber Products and our employees were the recipients of a few of these awards.
The first award won was the Safety Committee Recognition Award in Honor of Frank Bertak, which is given to a Safety Committee that has made a significant contribution toward the company’s overall success, this was awarded to all Timber Products divisions. Dan Hagedorn, who has worked at Medford Hardwood for over 33 years, was nominated and received the Safety Committee Champion Award for his involvement in the Lock Out Tag Out Committee and commitment to safety. The last award was given to the Medford Plywood mill for the Best of the Best Safety Committee which is given to the company that outshines the rest in preventing harm to workers, promoting the cause of safety and health, and making safety fun and engaging for all employees.
This is an incredible honor, and as Mike Niedermeyer, Safety Superintendent for Medford Plywood said, “With all the companies and other safety committees attending, this was a total surprise to all of us.” Congratulations to all the mills on putting safety first and keep up the great work!
