TP Trucking Plans Superhero Parade to Fundraise in the Fight against Childhood Cancer

TP Trucking is going gold this fall for childhood cancer awareness! TP Trucking invites everyone to come to Twin Creeks Park in Central Point, Oregon as they host the first “Parade of Superheroes” to raise money for Asante’s Pediatric Infusion Services.

The parade will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2022. A decoration station will be set up from 10 – 11 a.m., so families can come decorate their superhero bike, wagon, wheelchair and faces for the parade. The parade will start at 11 a.m. Superhero costumes are strongly encouraged, but not mandatory to participate!

Many families travel to Portland, Seattle, or sometimes even further, to get treatment for their child battling cancer. Not only does it take an emotional toll, it takes a financial toll on families as well. TP Trucking wants to do their part to help local families stay local for treatment.

This fundraising parade is in honor of the memory of Clint Later, who is the son of TP Trucking’s dispatcher, Ray Later. Clint was a vibrant light, full of love for everyone and everything. In January 2017, everything changed for the family. After trips to the pediatrician, it was discovered he had a mass on his liver. He went through rounds of chemotherapy in Portland, and it was then decided Clint would need a liver transplant. In April of 2017, Clint received his new liver at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Clint’s little body did not tolerate this well, and it was too much for him to overcome. Clint peacefully passed through the veil in October 2017. He was 5 years old. Thank you to Ray and Mariah Later for sharing their family’s story with us so we can put the spotlight on childhood cancer awareness.

Despite what we have been told, childhood cancer is not rare. Their story is one of many, too many, where family’s lives are turned upside down and ripped apart. Children deserve better than this. At TP Trucking, we feel honored to have the opportunity to help families battling childhood cancer. Participating in the parade gives everyone the opportunity to be important in the life of a child.
