Forklift Skills Challenge 2025

This year’s Southern Oregon Forklift Skills Challenge was one to remember! With many activities going on at once, it was jam-packed with fun.

While the forklift challenges were happening on the outside of the grassy knoll, on the grass there was a tree planting station, blowup axe throwing as well as basketball, a popcorn station and a custom hat bar! The hat bar was put on by our vendor McKenzie SewOn and each employee along with their families, were able to make a custom Timber Products hat. We also had a great lunch catered by All Smoked Out BBQ along with Val’s Ice Cream Truck that was serving up some tasty ice cream treats!

Our Southern Oregon Mills came up with forklift challenges from “Slick and Bowling”, to “Pallet Stacking” and “Turn and Poke.” Each challenge put our drivers to the test, but the drivers stayed focused and made it a very tight competition. In order to come out on top, the drivers wanted to earn the least amount of points, but points would be added to their scores depending on timing and how well they did at each station. With the least amount of points, coming in first place, was Canan P., our Forklift Skills Challenge Champion with just 22 points. Following closely in second place was Robert H. with 25.5 points and in third place was Sarah C. with 30.6 points, all from our Grants Pass Plywood mill. Way to go, GP, on an impressive sweep!

Overall, it was great seeing all the employees and their families come out to this event and want to thank everyone who participated. We also want to give a special thanks to all of our sponsors who donated items to make our raffle such a success as well as the vendors who participated: DeepHow, Heads Up Livestock Club, Columbia Forest Products, Continental Hardwoods, Dubuc & Co., Gerico Forest, Great Lakes Veneer, Industrie Ergie, Knapp Wood/La Fleur, MacBeath Hardwood, Veneer Tech Mohring, Fasteners, Grainger, Motion, Napa, Pepsi, Primo Brands, Industrial Finishes and McKenzie SewOn.
